This particular morning was very special. I had been back to this place many times, searching for unique and interesting conditions and compositions. As the night turned to morning, it looked like it was going to be a dud. The thick cloud cover meant no sunlight would get through. As the scene lightened, I could see that the clouds were forming this interesting pattern that began to softly mirror the shapes on the salt flat below.
Suddenly, a sliver of light shone through a break in the clouds behind me, illuminating the peaks of the mountains to the west with a warm glow.
